Our new Kid's Patch Clubs are up and running in Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge!

The wait is over! We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Kid’s Patch Clubs, our Ofsted registered weekend clubs for children and young people aged 5 + with disabilities or additional needs.

The clubs, based in Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge, offer a friendly, fun, social and inclusive environment for three age groups (Little Sprouts 5 – 8, Cool Carrots 9 – 13 and Chilli Peppers 14 – 18) with specialist equipment and facilities and trained staff.

The first couple of weeks have seen activities including an Easter Egg hunt, egg painting competition, biscuit decorating and cake making. Other activities include arts and crafts, a sensory room and video games. There are also monthly day trips and outings planned for the future.

The clubs currently run on a Saturday between 9am - 3pm at the Leys Children’s Centre, Wellington Drive, Dagenham, Collier Row Children’s Centre, Clockhouse Lane, Collier Row and Orchard’s Children’s Centre, Liston Way, Woodford Green.

As well as the Saturdays, special school holiday clubs have also been planned and DABD are hoping to offer clubs on some Sundays in the future.

Sam Norgate, our Personal Support Service Lead, has helped to launch the clubs and says;

‘The idea was to provide a club with a fun and engaging environment for children and young people with additional needs, which also promotes confidence and positive relationships as well as providing respite for families.

The last couple of Saturdays have been a great success. The smiling faces and positive comments from families have been a testament to this!’.
